Music Monday: Pharrell Williams - Happy

Okay, so I really don't care if this was the most overused song from this last summer. This song pretty much frames up my life right now. In the face of all the horrible shit going on in the world right now, I've been able to find my happy. And that, my friends, is the meaning of life...that right there: find your happy. Live. Love. Be good to one another. Play video games, eat good food, listen to good tunes (whatever your definition may be). Live your life in such a way that when the end comes, you can look back fondly on good times with good people.

If you're having trouble finding your motivation in life, look no further than today's artist. Pharrell Williams is a shining example of what a human being should be. He named his son Rocket, because screw tradition. Also, he's a tremendous philantropist. This man is one of the few strangers in this world that I would hug, based on his life principles. While I may not completely agree with his religious beliefs (I am an affirmed gnostic/strong Atheist, as well as a secular humanist), I completely agree with what I perceive to be his philosophy. We are all human beings. We are all brothers/sisters on this rock, hurtling through space. We MUST treat each other with dignity and respect. And the only way we are to advance as a society...as a species...is to work together in harmony. We must fully understand that our differences may define us on a human level, but on the grandest level they don't matter one bit. We have to work together to raise ourselves up. There is an entire universe out there for us to discover...maybe even MORE than that.

If you're looking for a simple answer...just don't be an asshole. Everyone struggles. Everyone hurts. Have some empathy for your fellow man. Don't push someone down to raise yourself up...take their hand and climb the mountain together.

Treat each other well and stay awesome, friends.
