Music Monday: KMFDM - Kunst

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand...we're back. After a mild case of hiatus, I thought it was time to give the old blog some much-needed attentioning. Let's not make this awkward. Just...just...okay? Okay.

If you want angry, face-punch, industrial rock, look no further than KMFDM. It's like pouring glass into a flaming wood chipper, only with guitars and synth.

If you're not a long-time fan of the group, Kunst (German for "Art") won't make a whole lot of sense...the lyrics are just song titles from the band's sordid 30 year history, with a few tongue-in-cheek bits thrown in (a reference to the urban legend that the band's initials stand for Kill Mother Fucking Depeche Mode, for instance). While a good portion of KMFDM's songs have a politically- or socially-charged theme, it's good to see they don't take themselves TOO seriously. You'll find one of these gems on many of their albums. The killer thing is...even when they're not being serious, they'll still melt your face off.

If the cartoon boobs from the album cover offend, then grow the hell up. That's how the artist delivered it, and censorship is a cancer (thanks, Maynard).
